How to Hire a House Cleaning Service

Peace of Mind
There are many things to consider before you hire a cleaning service to maintain your home for you.

Peace of Mind
Check them out with the better business bureau, get references, get a hard copy of proof of insurance (workers compensation, liability and a bond)and call them and ask a lot of questions.
Some of the questions that I suggest to ask when interviewing prospective cleaning services would be:
1. How long has the cleaning service been in existence?
(Executive Maids – since 1993)

2. Is the company privately owned or a franchise?
(Why? I believe you will get better customer service from a private company who will/should take a personal interest in every client. Executive Maids is a woman owned, private business)

Are they willing to give you proof of insurance? They should provide you with a certificate of liability, a bond and workers compensation insurance. DO NOT allow an uninsured person or company to work for you – too much at risk

Peace of Minsk.
(Our insurance broker will be glad to send you proof of insurance by fax, email or US mail.)
4. How many people on each team of cleaners and does the service send the same people, for the most part, when cleaning your home?
(Our teams consist of either 3 or 4 cleaners. For the most part, as long as you are on a regular schedule you will have the same team. Of course it it to be expected that people take personal or sick days, etc.)

5. Do they do criminal and work history background checks on their cleaners?
(Executive Maids only hires people with clean criminal histories and a good work history.)

6. Will they give you a list of everything that should be cleaned during the cleaning? What things will they not do? What things will cost extra?
(Our detailed list can be found in our brochure and on our website.)

7. What jobs can they do that would be considered an extra service? Do they clean windows, ovens and refrigerators? If they clean windows do they clean both the inside and the outside?
(Executive Maids can do all of that.)8. Does the cleaning service provide the cleaning products and equipment (vacuums, tall dusters, mops, scrub brushes, etc.?)

(Executive Maids brings everything needed to clean your home, unless of course, you have something special that you prefer we use.)

If they only accept cash , then you are hiring an illegal company. They may be cheaper to hire. But, too much is at risk. My suggestion is to only hire a legitimate company.

(For your convenience, Executive Maids accepts Cash, Checks, MasterCard, Visa and American Express.)
10. How do they schedule? Do they call to schedule your ETA (estimated time of arrival) the day before?
(We group our clients by geography for each team. Every client is notified of their estimated time of arrival the day prior to their cleaning.)

11. Does the service work with keys or unlocked doors? DO NOT leave your door unlocked. If your home is robbed or has property damage neither the liability insurance nor the bond insurance will protect you. Your policy will no t pay out because you have given the whole world access to your home.
(Some of the Executive Maids’ clients are home while we clean. Those who are not give us a key that we tag with a number, not their name or address. All keys are kept in a key storage and only given to the team supervisor on the day of the cleaning. All keys are logged out in the morning and logged back in at the end of the day. Home security is very important to Executive Maids.)
